Palmerston cenotaph issue unresolved

Council here hopes to have a recommendation to settle the issue of the Palmerston cenotaph once and for all.

Councillor Wayne Martin said there has been some questions around town about what is happening with the Palmerston cenotaph.

He said the feedback he and councillor Rick Hembly have been getting is there is the one option of moving it over to the new park.

The other, Martin said, is to enhance what is at the existing site. “The majority of people I’ve talked to, like it where it is,” Hembly added.

Mayor David Anderson said he had to apologize on that issue.

“I think we should have a wrap up meeting for that ad hoc committee, to get a recommendation from that group.”

He hopes to have a recommendation shortly.

The item has been on council’s agenda since 2008 without resolution.
