PALMERSTON – The Minto Chamber of Commerce is set to host its Big Dig 2026 business meeting regarding upcoming construction projects.
The focus of the meeting will be to present proposed project phasing and detour routes as well as brainstorm ideas for marketing, promotions and events, stated officials.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 30 from 8 to 9:30am at the Palmerston Arena. Guests will receive a continental breakfast provided at no cost.
The chamber will discuss “how to thrive” during the summer of 2026 reconstuction of Main Street in Palmerston.
The limits of the reconstruction are 400 meters west of Toronto Street to 140 meters east of King’s Highway 23.
The overall scope of the project includes the full replacement of underground infrastructure such as existing watermain, sanitary and storm sewer.
It will also include new services to property line for properties serviced from Main Street E/W as well as road surface works including:
- improved roadway cross-sections;
- sidewalks;
- driveway entrances;
- streetscaping; and
- various intersection improvements.
This is a unique opportunity for local businesses to come together, brainstorm and share strategies to mitigate disruptions during the construction phase, stated officials.
