Last weekend residents of Centre Wellington were encouraged to trip around town with a “culture passport” in celebration of Culture Days – and they did just that.
Elora Fergus Tourism officials say this year’s third annual Culture Days celebration was an enormous success.
“This year’s Culture Days celebration far surpassed all expectations,” said Elora Fergus Tourism’s cultural coordinator Elizabeth Bender.
“People embraced the culture passport and the community was absolutely alive.”
Centre Wellington joined the rest of Canada to celebrate Culture Days, a movement created to recognize the direct contribution of culture to healthy vibrant communities.
Centre Wellington celebrated with a cultural passport. Spanning three days, the passport featured 18 stops and the participation and contributions of approximately 50 cultural groups, organizations and businesses.
“The passport stops themselves were truly amazing going above and beyond to offer unique, engaging activities and experiences,” said Bender.
“And Centre Wellington [residents] demonstrated that they love culture, with hundreds of people of all ages taking full advantage of the opportunity to travel around and be a part of everything going on.
“Response to the culture passport has been remarkable from all involved,” said Bender.
