GUELPH – A fundraiser to support the rescue and rehabilitation of endangered orangutan’s will be held at the Guelph Army, Navy and Air Force Club on March 30.
The event on behalf of International Animal Rescue (IAR) will be at 32 Gordon Street, starting at 7pm, with dancing, snacks, raffles, information and discussion.
“I have spent the last two months in Borneo Malaysia volunteering at a rescue-rehabilitation facility for displaced orangutans,” said organizer Patricia Cuthbert.
“It was an incredible experience to meet these animals in person and has reinforced and heightened my own passion to help protect and save these critically endangered animals.”
IAR says that clearing land to make way for palm oil plantations has resulted in mass deforestation, particularly in Indonesia and Malaysia where more than 80 per cent of the world’s palm oil is produced.
