The local Opti-Mrs. club is a community minded service group with a focus on supporting youth.
Over the past 29 years the club membership has varied from over 20 to today’s number of 11.
Although small in numbers, the group diligently organizes several fundraising activities each year, ranging from garage, bake, and craft sales to an apple pie and apple crisp project and catering the grade 8 graduation dinner for one of the local schools.
The funds raised through those and other projects have benefited a wide array of community organizations and individual special needs. Recent projects have supported the Centre Wellington Food Bank, Groves Memorial Community Hospital building fund, a reading program at the Fergus Library, the swim to survive program, Camp Quality, a free public swim on Family Day, playground equipment for a local school, synchronized skating, a school music program, local counselling services, the drop in centre for youth, and a program to assist children orphaned by AIDS.
As the club enters its 30th year it looks forward to new opportunities to meet community needs and enjoy good fellowship at monthly meetings and fundraising projects.
The club welcomes new or former members with similar interests and a desire to have fun with good friends.
