The Guelph Arts Council is collaborating with the Art Gallery of Guelph and the University of Guelph’s School of Fine Art and Music in presenting “Opportunity Knocks: Visual Arts and Music,” an evening of conversation with experienced arts managers and artists that will help visual artists and musicians put their best foot forward in finding and responding to creative opportunities.
Artists of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
The three-hour session begins at 6pm on Nov. 9 at the Art Gallery of Guelph at 358 Gordon St. Guelph, and includes a panel discussion, concurrent break-out sessions for visual artists and musicians, and networking.
The break-out sessions will be led by Carmen Spada (music), and John Kissick and Barbara Hobot (visual arts).
The panel discussion will also feature Shauna McCabe, executive director at the Art Gallery of Guelph and Petra Nyendick the executive director of Silence.
The session is presented in association with the Guelph Young Artist Mentorship Project, a GAC/SOFAM partnership that is made possible with support from the Ontario150 Partnership Program.
Young Artist Project participants and SOFAM students are free.
Registration fees are $15 for GAC members and youth (25 and under), and $25 for non-members.

At this session, artists and arts leaders will share their expertise and experiences, and facilitate conversations about pursuing careers in the arts.”
