Police are warning people not to leave valuables inside their vehicles after two thefts from cars parked at area trails.
Wellington County OPP officers investigated two incidents on Sept. 9. The first was at about 12:41pm at the dog park parking lot on Sideroad 10 between Laird Road and Whitelaw Road, and to the second was at about 4:45pm at the Starkey Hill Conservation Area on Arkell Road. In both incidents the owner was walking their dog and returned to their vehicle to find the front passenger window smashed and items stolen.
In the first incident a purse, wallet, identification and other items were taken. In the second, the culprit(s) stole a bag containing a purse, identification, iPad and more.
Police are reminding the public not to leave valuables in vehicles while unattended. The OPP suggests carrying purses and bags or locking them in the trunk or leaving them at home. Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
