Police looking for clues after gun discharged at Puslinch home

People sleeping inside were not injured; shooting not a random incident: OPP

PUSLINCH – Police are looking for help to find the person(s) responsible for firing a gun at a house while people were sleeping inside on Monday.

Wellington County OPP officials say police received a “weapons complaint” at a Puslinch home, on Wellington Road 36 near Morriston, at about 2:14am on Aug. 12.

“Initial reports indicated that unknown individual(s) had discharged a firearm at a residence while the occupants were asleep inside,” police stated in a press release issued that evening.

“There is no threat to public safety as this is not believed to be a random incident. No injuries were reported.”

Police did not provide any information about:

  • how many shots were fired at the house;
  • how many bullets made it inside (if any);
  • what type of gun was used;
  • how many people were inside at the time; and
  • why the incident is not considered random.

OPP Sergeant Ed Sanchuk told the Advertiser he can not provide such details, as they are considered evidentiary by police.

The OPP is investigating and asking anyone with video footage – on Wellington Road 36 between Victoria Road South and Highway 6 and the surrounding areas – between 12 and 2:30am on Aug. 12 to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
