INVERHAUGH – A Stratford man has been charged after a homeowner here caught someone breaking into their home through the front door.
On Feb. 11 at about 12:30am, Wellington County Ontario OPP responded to a break-in in progress at a house on JM Quarrie Drive in Inverhaugh.
“It was reported that a suspect forcibly entered the front door of a home. The startled homeowner confronted the lone suspect,” police stated in a press release.
“The suspect caused extensive damage to the interior of the home and to a vehicle which was parked in the driveway. Police arrested the suspect upon arrival.”
No injuries were reported, police said, noting the suspect and victim are not known to each other.
David Ashkanase, 35, of Stratford, was charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000 and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
