Local OPP officials are reminding drivers to be extra cautious while travelling in construction zones.
Police are offering the following advice to remain safe:
– when approaching a construction zone, exercise caution and slow down;
– be aware vehicles ahead may stop unexpectedly – avoid watching what is being done to the road and concentrate on driving;
– watch for a person directing the flow of traffic. They are there to protect workers and drivers;
– heavy equipment is extremely large with many blind spots, be aware of these areas and for everyone’s safety, avoid them; and
– slow down. Speed fines are doubled when workers are present.
“Road construction crews are concerned about motorists who drive through areas they are working in,” police stated in a press release.
“Please give them a ‘brake.’ They have families too.”
