OPP continues to investigate numerous break-ins

Over the last several weeks there has been a rash of residential break-ins and thefts across the county.

The incidents include:

– May 6 between 11:45am and 1pm on the Third Line of Guelph-Eramosa; stolen were jewelry and collectible coins;

– sometime between May 5 and 7 on the Fifth Line of Belwood; there was extensive damage to both the home and possessions (estimated at above $5,000);

– sometime between April 8 and 26 at a storage unit on Hamilton Street in Elora; stolen were five long guns from a gun safe;

– sometime between April 14 and 15 to a shed and home on Sideroad 7 West in Wellington North; stolen were: a riding lawnmower, washer and dryer, TV, Xbox, three knives, a machete and two pellet guns;

– April 14 on Highway 23 in Minto; stolen was about $800 in cash; and

– overnight on April 20 on Bernardi Crescent in Rockwood; unclear what was stolen.

Business break-in, theft

ARTHUR – On April 18 at about 1;40pm Wellington County OPP received a report of a break-in and theft  at Arthur Chrysler.

Police say that sometime between April 6 and 10 someone cut the fence on the west side of the truck lot and removed the tires and rims from a new 2017 Dodge truck “and left the truck on its wheel hub.”

The tires and rims are valued at $5,000. The stolen tires are Firestone Transforce LT275/70R18.
