Ontario Agricultural Roadshow comes to Fergus

As part of its commitment to farm and agribusiness, BDO Canada offers complimentary information sessions in eight locations throughout Ontario each December.

On Dec. 15, the event dropped in to the Fergus Community Hall in the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

This year, the keynote speaker was Chris Koch of ifican.ca.

Koch was born and raised in a small farm and ranching community in Alberta.

When he’s not out in the field, he’s a motivational speaker sharing his story and experiences in the hopes of encouraging others to live their lives to their greatest potential.

Other highlights include a session about agricultural land use, planning and severance restrictions; Mike Brine, an agriculture specialist discussing what your farm insurance does, and should, cover; and BDO providing an agriculture update (the good and the bad) and bookkeeping in the Cloud.

Presentations included:

– Bookkeeping in iCloud;

– Agricultural Land Use, Planning and Severance Restrictions;

– BDO Agricultural Update: The Good and the Bad;

– Farm Insurance – What does your policy cover; and

– “If I Can” by Koch.

Fergus marked the sixth spot among the roadshow’s  eight communities.

Earlier shows included Alvinston, Walkerton, Mitchell, Woodstock and Kingsville.

Other shows later in December included Lindsay and Manotick.

Michelle Drewery a marketing assistant with BDO said this year’s show went well and had a series of excellent presentations.

BDO is one of the leading accounting and advisory firms in Canada.
