WELLINGTON COUNTY – A Fergus man was charged twice within five hours for alleged driving offences.
On June 18 at about 9:30pm Wellington County OPP officers responded to a driving complaint in Guelph-Eramosa on Wellington Road 38, north of Guelph.
Police say officers found a silver SUV rolled over into a ditch along Highway 6 and the driver, who sustained minor injuries, was suspended from driving.
Less than five hours later, on June 19 at about 2:15am, an OPP officer monitoring traffic on Tower Street South in Fergus saw a white sedan that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit.
The vehicle was allegedly clocked on radar at about 125km/h in an 80km/h zone.
Matthew Kyle Abel, 29, of Fergus, was charged with careless driving, speeding and two counts of driving while suspended. He is to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 4. Both vehicles were seized for a period of seven days.
