Officials now collecting for popular book sale

Dozens of volunteers are sorting and pricing thousands of books for the coming Elora Festival book sale on the weekend of May 3 and 4 at the Elora Curling Club.
The sale supports the elora Festival Singers.
This year, the sale promises to be an adventure for the connoisseur of rare and precious books, as well as those who love reading their favourite authors.
The book sale’s expert, Stan Jaychuk, has noted there are many unique items already, such as Lear’s Comic History of Rome, 1866 with colour plates; Manguel’s The Ark in the Garden, with booklets signed by contributors Atwood, Findlay, Urquhart and others; the first German edition of Gone with the Wind; M. Brown’s The Lindisfarne Gospels; 2003: Aschmann’s Memoirs – a Swiss officer in the American Civil War.
Those and many other books are available in the collector’s corner at the Saturday morning sale.
Organizers know that at this time of year many people are cleaning. Donated volumes can be dropped off at the Elora Festival office on Henderson Street, or picked up anywhere in Wellington County. The pick-up service is just a phone call away at 519-846-0331.
The sale accepts all books from gourmet cookbooks to children’s picture books, and all formats, including paperbacks and coffee table books, but it does not accept text books.
