A number of changes are happening within the Ontario Clean Water Association (OCWA), and that could mean changes for Wellington North Township in the coming year.
One of those changes was the combining of the Orangeville and Grey-Bruce hubs, with all administration to be done at the Orangeville office.
The Ontairo Clean Water Agency has also asked that Wellington North send a representative to sit on a client advisory committee which would meet once or twice a year to discuss existing operations and how to improve for the future.
The township works committee agreed to have Works Superintendent Gary Williamson as the township’s representative. OCWA representatives Richard Laliberte and Scott Craggs reviewed the 2008 third quarter reports and discussed changes for the 2009 budget.
Two areas the committee wants to see reviewed are the costs for sewage sludge haulage and supplies and equipment for the new Mount Forest treatment plant.
The report to council also stated there was discussion on wages and benefits charged to the Arthur plant since committee members believed some of those fees will end up being charged back to the Mount Forest plant once they have a better idea of the time required to run the new plant.
Williamson noted the Wellington North contract is a cost plus agreement, so the municipality pays only for actual costs, not necessarily the budgetted amount.
Broomhead believes talks with OCWA are going along well.
“No fistfights anyway,” quipped councillor Ross Chaulk.
