With sadness we share that Margaret Catherine Young (Marg) (McPherson), 88, of Fergus, Ontario, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday February 2nd at the Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph. Marg will be missed by her children, Scott (Susan), Liz Wilson (Don) and Rob (Heather). She was a loving grandmother to Meghan, Matthew, Scott, Lauren and Kyle. Marg is survived by brothers Leslie and Jack and sister-in-law Margaret, along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Young, parents James and Hattie Bell and brothers Alexander and Angus and sisters Florence McConnell and Mary. Marg was born in Crieff, Ontario to James and Hattie Bell McPherson on May 10th, 1935. Marg graduated from the School for Nurses, Guelph General Hospital in 1956 and worked as a nurse for many years. Together with Tom, they owned and operated Youngs Bakery in Fergus. She enjoyed travelling, walking, gardening, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. She was involved in and volunteered in many organizations including St Andrews Presbyterian church and Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus. Funeral service will be at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St David Street South, Fergus on Friday, February 9th at 1pm. Burial will be held at a future date at Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus. Visitation will be held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home on Thursday, February 8th from 6 – 8pm and Friday, February 9th from 11am – 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Fergus, Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, or Covenant House, Toronto. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Emma’s neighbourhood, Riverside Glen, in Guelph and Dr. Bedard of Riverview Medical Group for their care and compassion.
