Stephen Howard Wylie of Harriston passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in his 63rd year. Husband of Sherri (Weber) Wylie. Father of Spencer Wylie & Courtney Ray, and Samantha and Tim Earnshaw, and grandfather of Tyson Earnshaw. Son of Fern Wylie of Gorrie and the late James Wylie, brother of Tim and Janice Wylie of Gorrie, uncle of Jennifer, Christine and Aaron and missed by his great nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Carole Weber of Harriston and the late Harold Weber, and brother-in-law of Mark Weber of Guelph. Predeceased by his infant brother Daniel Wylie. Stephen grew up in Howick Township, taking pride in hockey and baseball. He loved to fish at the Gorrie damn or would ask for a ride to his favourite fishing hole which could have been anywhere. Stephen attended Howick Central Public School, F.E. Madill High School, Wingham, and then Mohawk College for their insurance program. After working for a construction company, Stephen joined the family insurance business. He was an avid golfer, and participated in many charity tournaments. In Stephen’s later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family at the cottage, and with close friends golfing and going on trips. He will be dearly missed by many family and friends. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Harriston United Church on Thursday, September 21 at 11:00am with reception to follow in the church hall. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
