When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Barbara Jean White on Thursday February 25, 2021, at the age of 91, peacefully at the Highland Manor in Fergus Ontario. Beloved mother of Cathie Keeler and Rick White. Dear grandmother of Robin (Mike) Brooks and Brent Keeler. A special great-grandmother to Emily, Natalie, Violet, Carly, Ella and Caia. Survived by her brother Jim Houston (Gerry). Predeceased by her parents Ross and Annie Mae Houston, husband Norris White, brother Bill Houston and son-in-law Jim Keeler. Mom had a very active lifestyle. She was the longest rural mail carrier in Ontario of 61 years. A driver for Denny’s bus lines for 38 years. Member of the Orton Community Association and St. John’s United Church in Belwood. She loved the game of baseball and could be found parked behind home plate keeping score in her little book or just as a spectator. Curling kept her busy in the winter either playing or watching it on T.V. Euchre became a bigger part of her life after retiring from the mail route. She helped to organize many games in Orton and would also travel to neighboring communities just to play. When there was music playing you would either find her up on the dance floor especially if it was a waltz or sitting there tapping her toes to the beat. Mom touched many lives over the years and will be greatly missed. Arrangements entrusted to MacIntyre Family Funeral Home, 5399 Wellington Road 52, Erin. A funeral service will be planned for the spring of 2021 and we will continue to update our website when those details are confirmed. Interment will be held at The Grove Cemetery, Orton also in the spring of 2021.
