Peacefully on Friday April 3, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. Bert Wheeler was the beloved husband for 63 years of Myrna Wheeler, caring father of Laurie McKenna (Garry), Ron Wheeler (Virginia), Luann Frandsen (Morris) and Carrie Stroud (Jim), adoring grandfather of Jillian, Jesse, Jenny, Adam and Abbie and great-grandfather of Jack, Carter and Natalie. Bert was the loving brother of Marjorie Hillis Barbour, Julie Wheeler Bryant and the late George Wheeler and was predeceased by his parents Norman and Emily Wheeler. Bert farmed in partnership with his brother George and later worked for the LCBO. He was the Warden of Wellington County in 1983. Bert was a volunteer fireman with Hillsburgh and Erin Departments. His favourite hobby was competing in tractor pulls. He also enjoyed many years of curling, umpiring baseball and playing euchre. Bert’s happiest times were when gathered with family and friends. Bert was truly loved and will be dearly missed by his entire family. A private family interment will take place at Huxley Cemetery and a Celebration of Bert’s life will be held at a later date.
