Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the Guelph General Hospital. Beloved wife of 47 years of Robert Keith Watson. Loving mother of John and his wife Catrina, and James. She was a proud and adoring grandmother of Henry and Oliver. Sheila is predeceased by her parents Anne (2014) and Andrew (1999) Stevenson. Born and raised in Sudbury Ontario, Sheila attended the University of Guelph receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (Microbiology). While attending university she played on three Women’s Varsity Ice Hockey teams that were inducted into the Gryphon Hall of Fame in 2022. Sheila worked as a Research Technician at the Ontario Veterinary College in the Pathobiology Department. In her younger days, Sheila enjoyed swimming, biking and running. She completed several triathlons and was a swimmer with the Guelph Marlins Masters Program. She enjoyed art. After retiring in 2010, Sheila enrolled in classes to learn the basics of pastels and acrylics. Her medium of choice was acrylics and subject matter varied from realism to abstract. She loved all animals, especially her cats, and feeding and watching birds. She was proud of her flower gardens and landscaping. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph (519-821-5077). A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00am in the funeral home’s Hart Chapel. Burial to follow at Belsyde Cemetery, 400 Thistle Street, Fergus. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Vasculitis Foundation Canada or the Guelph Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
