Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of family on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the age 78. Husband of the late Bridget Eileen Walser (2021) after 55 years of marriage. Father of Jason, Jeffrey, Joshua, Danielle, and Becky (Brad). Grandfather of Andrew (Rachel), Maggie (Owen), Catherine (Marco), Ben (Addy), Leah (Seth), Emily and Natalya. Great-grandfather of Liliana Bridget. Brother of Carol Jeffers (David), Blair Walser (Nancy), Mary Jane Alexander (Bill), Pauline Walser, Barb Walser (Gail) and Liz Walser. Sisters and brothers in-law Peggy Rooney (Ron), Helen Doucet (Louis), Dan Rooney (Brenda), Mike Rooney (Patricia), and Paul Rooney (Laurie). Predeceased by parents Victor and Pauline (nee Soehner) Walser, brother Gary Walser (Mary), sister Paulette Walser and brothers-in-law Bill Jeffers and Eugene Rooney, sisters-in-law Madeline Hicks (Charlie), Mary Newell and Patricia Coughler (Lyle). Dan was a member of UA local 527 since 1969 and made many friends over his 55 years as a steam fitter. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 229 for many years. He will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing, storytelling and great sense of humor. He loved visits from friends and family, and most of all from his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Dan’s family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 229 (upstairs hall), 110 Metcalfe St, Elora. Memories and eulogies will be shared at 5:00pm, followed by a reception.
