It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of Charles Richard Walker of Belwood, Ontario in his home, surrounded by family on March 3, 2019; full of life, courage and strength until his last breath. Charlie was born in Ward’s Creek, New Brunswick on Friday April 13, 1928; he married Jean Elizabeth Hodgson, the love of his life and they enjoyed a marriage that spanned over 63 years. He was the son of the late David and Ida Sophia (Riedle) Walker. He will remain in the hearts of his wife, Jean Walker, his son Richard (Joanne) Walker, his daughters, Lynn Walker (Jim), Cindy Davidson and Brenda Walker (Delia); six grandchildren, Nicole Walker Hale (Ben), Greg Walker (Shannon), Jason Walker (Kasia), Amanda Marietta (Matt), Shannon Davidson (Charlie), Jacob Davidson; three great grandchildren, Jackson Marietta, Isabelle Marietta and Levi Hale; his sister-in-law’s Edna Walker, Evelyn Walker and Margaret Walker; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Besides his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his sisters Lillie McHaffie (Clair), Mable Danson (Bill), Ella Walker; his brothers Frank, George and John. Charlie was a graduate of Sussex Highschool and received his Civil Engineering Degree from the University of New Brunswick. He was a professional Civil Engineer for 36 years and worked for Ontario Hydro. Never to be idle, Charlie and Jean bought a hobby farm in their retirement and worked it for 11 years. Charlie was an enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations including coaching sport teams with his children, Scouts and Church committees. He loved golfing, curling, farming, travelling and adventures. He will be remembered for his complete and utter love for life, his impeccable storytelling and humour, his strength, courage and most of all his love and passion for his family and close friends. Charlie was strong in his faith and lived his life with honour. The family will have a celebration of Charlie’s life at St. John’s United Church at 28 Queen Street, Belwood, ON N0B 1J0 on Saturday April 13, 2019 from 11:30am to 12:30pm for a visitation and a service at 12:30pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s United Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
