TYE, Frances (nee Walsh)

December 16, 1930 - October 21, 2021

It is with sadness that we share the news of our dear mom and precious nana/grandma’s passing in London, Ontario, on Thursday October 21, 2021. Frances was born in Arthur, Ontario, on December 16, 1930, the beloved daughter of Frank and Kathleen Walsh, and “baby” sister to John, Mike, and the late Joe and Mary (Wolsley). She was predeceased by her husband, Claude Tye (2016). Frances was the matriarch of a large family, who will dearly miss her wry sense of humor, her quiet wisdom and her unending kindness. Loving mom of Michael Devoy (Grace daSilva), Christine Devoy (Brian Meisner), Paul Devoy (Janet), Dave Devoy (Judy Jones), Ann Wiggins (Dan), Trish Major (Jeff), and step-mom of Lynn Rice (Ron) and Karen Walton (Dave). Special grandma/nana to Colin, Natalie, Eric, Lauren, Nick, Andrew, Emma, Ryan, Ian, Matthew, Abby, Sean, Alex and Vera. Fran spent the majority of her life raising her family in Windsor. She was a special member of her neighbourhood, where she had many friends. She enjoyed the time she spent with many neighbours and her colleagues at Woolco / Walmart. After retirement, she married Claude and moved to Oakville. They enjoyed travelling near and far, particularly with her brother John and sister-in-law Tess. Fran and Claude also spent many happy times with their children and grandchildren, especially at the various family cottages. After Claude’s passing, Fran moved to Waterford Chartwell, Oakville where she again had many close friendships and wonderful care from the staff. In the recent past, Fran moved to Highview Residences, London to be closer to family. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the many wonderful caregivers over the years including Susan, Rachel, the Waterford and Highview staff. Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held for Frances at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, for invited guests only. Friends were welcomed to join the family via livestream on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021. Interment to be held at Glen Oaks Cemetery, Oakville. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
