TROMMELEN, Margaret

Passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the Palmerston and District Hospital on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of Bert Trommelen for 69 wonderful years. Loving mother of Brenda Trommelen, Susan Stewart (James), Carolyn Trommelen (Allen Jones), Robert Trommelen (Brenda), Brian Trommelen (Connie Stockdale), Bruce Trommelen (Annette), and Laura Burns (Ray).Devoted and adored grandmother to her 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Dear sister of Catharine Van Der Kleyn and Arthur Diceman. Margaret is survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her sisters Della Burns (Albert), Mary Walsh (Ivor), Edith Howlett (Jim); brothers George Diceman (Matilda), John Diceman (Winnifred), Murray Diceman, Howard Diceman, Jim Diceman (Audrey), Douglas Diceman (Anne); sister-in-law Grace Diceman; and brother-in-law Pieter Van Der Kleyn. Margaret and Bert started farming in 1955, later moving to West Luther Township where they operated a dairy farm until they retired in 1986. They built their retirement home on a corner lot of the farm where they have lived since. Margaret was incredible at Huck Weaving (aka “Swedish Weaving”) and enjoyed making blankets for her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake, garden and enjoyed crafting of all kinds. But above all, she loved her family. She enjoyed spending time together and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest on Friday, October 25th from 6:00 – 8:00pm and at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Saturday, October 26th from 9:30-10:15am. A celebration of life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church on Saturday, October 26th at 10:30am.
