Helmi Tremblay passed away October 20, 2023, peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus, at the age of 88, with family by her side. Helmi is survived by her son Kenneth Paul (Siobhan) of Ennismore, and daughter Deborah Anne Veldhuizen (Harry) of Kenilworth. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stephanie McIntosh (Chris) and Scott Veldhuizen (Donna) Also survived by great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Madelyn McIntosh; and Cora and Camden Veldhuizen. Helmi was predeceased by her loving husband, Fern, in 2016 and her parents, Ida and Heino Lehto. Helmi grew up in a robust Finnish community in Sudbury. Married for 62 years, her life with Fern took her to many communities – Chelmsford. White River, Sault Ste. Marie, Mississauga, Arthur, Cottam, St. Joseph’s Island and Mount Forest. During their years on a dairy farm and later an apple farm, she took immense pride in their efforts to build successful enterprises, literally from the ground up. Helmi enjoyed painting, jigsaw puzzles, all things “Royal” and especially her beloved dog, Tia. Proudly independent, she enjoyed life to the fullest and loved being surrounded by family. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life is planned.
