It is with great sadness, yet gratitude for a life well lived, that the family announces the passing of Annie Evelyn Tone (nee Anderson) on Saturday May 18, 2024, in her 97th year. Annie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank Tone (1993) and cherished daughter Karen (1956). Annie will be deeply missed by her children Ron and Louise Tone of Cumnock, Rita and Steve Cudney of Damascus, Kevin and Dianne Tone of Arthur. Super proud Grandma of Chris and Natasja Tone, Sherri and Kevin Graves, Nolan and Farrah Tone and Delaney Tone. Doting Great Grandma to Brianna (Nexus), Kate and Tucker Tone, Bristol Graves and Annie Tone. Annie is survived by her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Linda Dicken, Catherine and Reg French, many special nieces and nephews, former co-workers and friends. Predeceased by her parents William and Kate (Gourlay) Anderson, her younger siblings, Albert Anderson, Carlton Anderson, Bessie and Ken Landoni and Edna Anderson. Also, predeceased by Frank’s siblings, Ed and Olive Tone, Helen and Ed Hopkins, Eileen and Nick Schmidt, Basil and Helen Tone and Cyril Tone. Annie was born and raised and lived for many years in Damascus, moving to Arthur in 1997. Annie began her teaching career with the Wellington County Board of Education, teaching in several one room schools in West Luther, then joining the Wellington Catholic School Board and teaching at St. John’s Catholic School Arthur. She had fond memories of the children she taught throughout the years. Annie enjoyed many years of volunteering and fellowship of several organizations, but was most proud of being a Charter member of the St. John’s Catholic Women’s League and a Charter member of the Arthur Opti-Mrs. Club. Annie was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Family and friends were received at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George St. Arthur on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 1:30 to 4:00pm and from 6:00 to 9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Johns Roman Catholic Church, 150 Georgina St. Arthur on Thursday May 23rd at 11:00am. A reception will follow at St. Johns Parish Centre. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Annie are asked to consider the St. John’s CWL or the Arthur Opti-Mrs. Club.
