THOMPSON, Rob “Stubby”

Of Drayton passed away peacefully after a valiant 10 plus year battle with Werners Syndrome, at the Palmerston and District Hospital on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in his 59th year. Cherished husband of Nancy (Oosterveld) for 33 years. Loving father and best friend of Tyler. Dear son of Mary Thompson and Vic Roberts and Don Thompson all of Drayton. Rob will be missed by his brothers Steve and Christine Thompson and Ken and Krista Thompson. Son-in-law of Peter and Christine Oosterveld and brother-in-law of Teresa Johnson and Tony and Joanne Johnson. Uncle of Shaelyn Thompson and her friend Tanner Brugmans, Keagan Thompson and Amber Johnson, and her partner Evan Gower and great uncle to, soon to arrive baby girl Gower. Nephew of Bruce and Nancy Schieck, Tom and Yvonne Schieck, Ron and Carol Thompson, Sharon and Ken Franklin and David and Dianne Thompson. Fondly remembered by his extended family and friends. Rob had a passion and love for snowmobiling, he was the past president of the Lake Conestoga Snowmobile Club, Groomer Operator/Coordinator, Trail Coordinator locally and for the OFSC District 9. As a licensed machinist Rob’s career excelled under the guidance of Trevor Jarvis of Astron Tool and Machine. Rob is now enjoying a cold beer with Lloyd Hodder a friend and former co-worker at Astron. To honour Rob’s wishes cremation has taken place. Please join the family for a casual afternoon in Celebration of Rob’s life at the Moorefield Community Centre 15 Ball Avenue, Moorefield on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00pm with remembrances at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy donations to the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Make a Wish or a Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
