Obituary

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Gail Winona Temple (nee Kimball) on August 7, 2024 at the age at 84. Mom was born August 21, 1939 in Fort William Ontario to Hazel and George Kimball. She married Arnold Temple and together they raised four wonderful children, April, Rhonda, Katherine and Edward, in a bright pink house on Balmoral St. Growing up, mom loved softball, bowling and golf and played the latter well into her senior years. In 1975 they purchased the Vicki Anne Restaurant and sold it after 20 years. Instead of retiring, mom started working as a PSW. She was a great PSW who was very genuine and connected well with the people she worked with. Gail was kind, gentle and caring to all. Mom and dad loved to travel. They travelled to the east coast where she met Rita McNeil. (Rita was pleased to meet someone shorter than herself.) They travelled to the west where they enjoyed reconnecting with family. She travelled to the south to Nashville, the Kentucky Blue Mountains, Florida and more. These trips always brought great stories and a lot of laughter. After dad passed in 2012, mom continued travelling to visit her children and the other great joys of her life – her grandchildren; Raelene, Danielle and Alexander. She didn’t care where she was as long as she was with family. In 2018, mom moved to Elora Ontario and resided at the Wellington Terrace where she was cared for by the most amazing staff. It was fun to watch them get to know mom’s unique sense of humour. Mom leaves behind her children, April (Wayne), Rhonda (Raymond), Katherine (James), Edward, grandchildren, Raelene, Danielle and Alexander, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A private interment will be held at Mountain view Cemetery in Thunder Bay at a later date. We would like to thank the Wellington Terrace staff (past and present) for keeping mom safe and comfortable over the past five and a half years. Tina, Loree, Sandra, Colleen, Anita, Brenda, Brenda and Brenda, Liana, Anna, Peg, Shana, Shannon, Barb, Colleen Jan, Hannah, Ashley, Dominic, Robert, Ciara, Audrey, Meaghen, Heather, Dan, Mike, Elise to name just a few. If your name is not listed, it is not a slight, just a temporary blip in our memories. You are all wonderful! It seems the Terrace only hires caring PSW’s, compassionate RNs, the absolute best environmental staff, the greatest dietary staff, the friendliest office staff, and the best maintenance staff. With their great program coordinators and the dedicated volunteers, our mom was always looked after in the best possible way. She could not have had better care anywhere. Thank you.
