TEGLER, Audrey Joyce (né Cowman)

February 23, 1927 - December 5, 2021

died peacefully on Sunday December 5th, 2021 at 94 years of age at Wellington Terrace in Fergus, Ontario. Audrey was born to Letitia (né Carter) and John Cowman in Brightside (Hamilton), Ontario on February 23rd 1927. Audrey is predeceased by her siblings Letitia (Tom), Dorothea (Tony), Agnes (Jim), George (Auburn), Jack (Mae) and Robert (Alice). At 19 years old Audrey was married to William Donald Tegler and together they had six children, Donald William deceased, Lawrence Anthony (Heather), Brent Allan (Ellen), Elaine Anne deceased (Earl), James Charles (Vicki), and John Joseph (Julie). Over the course of Audrey’s life, she lived in Hamilton, Sudbury, Toronto, Cedar Springs, Waterdown, and Fergus and as someone who loved to travel, she visited most corners of the globe. She was a wonderful mother with her deep compassion, regular expressions of love and sumptuous meals. Audrey exemplified perfect parenting, as she provided comfort and guidance and taught her children to laugh at their mistakes and learn how to correct them. She taught them that they were worthy and encouraged them to pursue their dreams, even when they took her children far from her home in southern Ontario. She read to her children, gave them memorable birthday parties, took them on holidays and celebrated religious holidays with joy. Gatherings ensured her children regularly interacted with aunts, uncles and cousins in warm family reunions filled with happiness and good food. Audrey will continue to be with us all, in our thoughts, our laughter and in our best actions. Visitation and services were held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, Ontario, on Sunday December 12th, 2021. Internment was at Greenwood Cemetery, 1030 Greenwood Drive, Burlington on Monday December 13th, at 10:30am. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home, Fergus, would be appreciated by the family.
