TARC, Andy

February 10, 1932 - June 16, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Andrew Thomas Tarc in the early hours of June 16, 2021. Andy was born in Hamilton General Hospital on February 10, 1932 to Harry and Sophie Tatarchuk, who met in Canada in the 1920s as immigrants from Ukraine. Andy was in many ways ‘larger than life’ and, even at 89 years old, lived life fully right up to the last few months before his passing. Andy was a Tech teacher at Norwell District Secondary School, an artist, and the inventor of the Para-saucer. He was known for his multiple ambitious and visionary projects, including his farm property south of Mount Forest, and above all, for his outgoing demeanor, generosity and love of life. “Andy from Palmerston” was an avid and passionate contributor to call-in shows on 570 News and CBC Radio. Andy’s spirit lives on through his many encounters and relationships, most especially with his family members. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Tarc, his children: Angela Boland (partner Garry and children Tommy and Robbie), Paul Tarc (partner Aparna and children Gabi, Ana, Rebecca and James) and David Tarc; and his sisters Mary Gruske (partner Alf and children Carolyn and John), Janet Tarchuk. He is predeceased by his sisters, Frances Tatarchuk and Annie Malyniak (deceased partner Michael and children Stephen and Nancy). Our family offers sincerest thanks to Dr. Phillip Deacon, and also to Andy’s wonderful new friends at Hospice Waterloo Region. A private family Funeral Service of Remembrance was held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 1:30pm in the Palmerston Christian Reformed Church. A link to view the service will be provided at www.heritagefuneralhomes.ca below Andy’s notice. In lieu of flowers donations to the Waterloo Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston.
