She is survived by her husband of 55 years David Taeger. Children Allison (Taeger) and Mark Wilson of Fergus, James Taeger of Fergus, Meghan (Taeger) and Robert Ewing of Kitchener, and Edward and Heather (Chappell) Taeger of Elmira. Grandchildren Abigail (Wilson) and William Hendrick of Toronto, Andrew Wilson of Fergus, Oliver Ewing of Kitchener, and Edgar Taeger of Elmira. Sisters Dr. Marsha Goodhead and Ely Ades of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Wendy (Goodhead) Lang of San Anselmo, California. She will be fondly remembered by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Eileen (Pike) Goodhead, in-laws Edward and Elsie (Letch) Taeger, sister-in-law Joy (Taeger) Purtill and her husband Edwin, and brother-in-law Philip Weber. Maureen was born on July 6, 1945 on Campbell Avenue, Toronto. Her family moved to Barrie where she attended school and was a very strong student. She moved back to Toronto and attended York University to receive her BA in English and continued on to get her high school teaching qualifications. In her second year of teaching, she moved to Englehart and met the love of her life, David, who was also a new teacher. They were married on November 2, 1969, and started their family in Englehart in 1973, before moving to Haileybury in 1981. After many years in Northern Ontario, Maureen and David moved to Harriston in 1987. Maureen taught English at Mount Forest District High School before becoming one of the first Co-op teachers in Wellington County. She retired from teaching in 1999 to become a full time Grandma, but returned to teaching a few years later at an alternative education facility which was a very fulfilling time in her career. Maureen treasured her family and was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She joked that none of her children were allowed to live further than an hour away from her, and was so happy when all four of her children eventually settled within 1 hour of her! She always enjoyed traveling. Among her favourite trips were drives to Florida and Myrtle Beach, visits with her sisters in Las Vegas & California, and camping at Provincial Parks in the trailer. She was quite creative and could often be found working on projects for the house. She was also an excellent baker and made many delicious cookies, cakes, brownies, jams and pies. She loved to be outside and could frequently be seen walking around Harriston with David, puttering in her garden and making sure her walkway was free of ice and snow. In her quiet time, she was often reading, spending time with her beloved David or enjoying a visit with her children or grandchildren. Maureen will be remembered for her lighthearted approach to life, her kindness, her quick and wonderful laugh, and her unwavering dedication to her husband and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Our thanks to the marvelous, kind, and loving staff at Wellington Terrace. They took such good care of Mom in her final months and supported our whole family through her final days.
