Ivan Larry Steele, 77, passed away peacefully after a short illness, with his family by his side at Hamilton General Hospital. Ivan has now been re-united with his wife of 54 years, Barb who passed away in 2022. He will be deeply missed by his son Chris, his daughter Laurie, son-in-law Rick, daughter-in-law Marjorie and his three grandchildren Foster, Mya and Emily, the lights of his life. Ivan is survived by his brothers and sisters Doug (Lynn), Marilyn, Linda, George (Joan), Sheila (Len), Sharon (Fred), Donna, and Ross and sisters in law Betty, Diane and Debbie along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Helen and his brother Allan. Ivan’s career as a retail sales executive kept him fulfilled and moved his family to many different communities in Ontario before ultimately settling them in Mount Forest, where they called home for more than two decades. In retirement, he stayed busy with long walks, fishing in Port Dover, travelling to his happy place Faial, Azores, caring for his kitty, watching CNN and old westerns, socializing with his neighbours and most importantly spending time with his kids and grandkids. His fiercely loyal and protective nature and wonderful bear hugs will be forever remembered by those who knew him best. He loved to say, “Go big or Go home” and lived that way until the very end. As per Ivan’s wishes cremation will take place, and the family will have a celebration of life at a date to be determined.
