Smith, Ruth Storey; On March 3, 2011, Ruth died peacefully in her sleep at Wellington Terrace, Fergus, Ontario in her 91st year with her children Marilyn, Bob, Kathy and Andy nearby. Pre-deceased in 1999 by her loving husband of 57 years, Ossie, her sister, Mary (2007) and her brother Dick (1944), She is survived by her brother Frank Floyd, daughters-in-law Barbara and Mary Ann, sons-in-law Dick Morton and Grant Lewis, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a volunteer at Goodwill and a skilled seamstress, two endeavors that enriched the lives and homes of her family and literally hundreds of value shoppers. When not sewing or pricing jewelry or china, she was curling at the Granite Club, her TV tuned to the Tournament of Hearts even in her final days. Ruth’s and Ossie’s combined remains are to be scattered on their beloved Royal Muskoka Island, Spruce Lake in Espanola and Marilyn’s farm in Belwood. A memorial service was held at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME, 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS on Saturday, March 5 at 1pm. Friends visited with the family 2 hours prior to the service the same day.
