Passed away peacefully at the Wellington Terrace in Fergus, Ontario, on Friday, October 27th, 2023 in his 91st year. Beloved husband to Barbara Ann (nee Brunker) for 63 years. Loving father to Karen Smith-Lock and her husband David Lock of Australia and Blake Smith and his wife Paola Bandiera of Oregon. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Carina Lock (Oliver Bradley), Jessica Lock (Joseph Dixon), Brendan Lock, Victoria Smith (Clay Edwards) and Jacob Smith. Survived by his brother Fred Smith. Predeceased by his brother Tom and his sister Mary. Friends will be received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus, on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm, with Parish Prayers at 8:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary the Immaculate Roman Catholic Church, 267 Geddes Street in Elora, on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 at 11:00am. Cremation to follow. Reception to be held in the Great Room at Station Square in Elora immediately after the Mass. Memorial donations in Ed’s memory can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Society.
