SHORTREED, Steven John; 0ctober 18, 1952 – January 30, 2015. After a long illness Steve “The Signman” Shortreed passed away on Friday, January 30th in his 62nd year, surrounded by the love of his life Barb, his children, his mother, his sisters and Aunt Rose. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, artistic talent, love of music and dedication to his family and friends. Steve spent many years as a Fergus business owner of The SignMan and later created the first leading sign painter website Letterville.com the online meet that never ends. He dedicated much time to and passion to his craft and was revered by his peers for his perfectionism, talent and attention to detail. He was an inspiration and mentor to many. Steve is predeceased by daughter Amanda, granddaughter Ava and father Jack. He is remembered by his wife of 42 years Barb, children Angela (Joe) Mota, Adam (Debbie) Shortreed, John (Catherine) Shortreed, and Heather (Doug) Attridge. His grandchildren Lydia, Damian, Tristan, Ethan, Owen, Henry and Brooklyn. His mother Shirley Griffith. His sisters Dianne (Dave) Brown and Sandy (Glen) Caughey. His many friends, sister in laws, brother in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Dr. Kamminga and to the palliative team on the second floor at Groves Memorial hospital. Interment of Steve’s cremated remains will take place on Friday, February 6th at 3:00 pm at Belsyde cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus, also on Friday, February 6th from 4:00-6:00pm, a service will then take place at 6:00 pm. Reception will follow.
