It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Sherwood of Goderich, Ontario, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Alexandra Marine Hospital. We have no words to express our sorrow. Doug was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario. Doug is survived by his devoted wife, Helen, of Goderich, his mother, Doris Sherwood and his sister Barbara Appel (Robert), all of Stratford; his dear Aunts, Lorraine (Al) Skowby and Marilyn (Gary) Moore; sisters-in-law Ruth and Marion Butlin and nieces and nephews. Doug was preceded in death by his father, David Sherwood, of Stratford, Ontario. Articulating what a thoughtful, kind and giving person Doug was can’t be explained in a few words, but one thing is and was for certain, he was deeply loved. Throughout his career within the hydro industry, he made many friends and their expressions of sorrow at Doug’s passing exemplify a man well loved. Doug began his career as a journeyman/lineman. He completed his career with many years as the President of Centre Wellington Hydro. As per Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held. We would like to especially thank the compassionate medical staff at Alexandra Marine Hospital for the care provided to Doug during his final days.
