SHEPPARD, Ivy R.; – July 5, 1921 – December 28, 2014 – With aching hearts and a profound sense of loss, the family of Ivy Sheppard announce her passing on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 93. She died peacefully, in her sleep, at Wellington Terrace, Fergus where she had resided for the past 11 months and received wonderful care and attention by the entire staff – thank you. She is survived by daughter Pam and son-in-law Ron Inglis and son, Paul and daughter-in-law Janice. Predeceased by daughters – Shirley Almack (1997) and Carol (2003). Cherished Grandmother to Sarah and Jessica Sheppard, Jennifer Ritchie (Todd), Jason (Jen) and Chad (Jaime) Inglis. Wonderful GG to Bailee, Kaiden and Alyxandra Ivy. Mom came to Guelph in 1944 as a widowed war-bride with her 3 year old daughter, Shirley. An elegant lady, Mom always had a spirited approach to life. She lived it to the fullest and expressed her ideas and views through her writings and many letters to the editor at the Guelph Mercury and other publications. We are so happy to have all these in print and, as well, to have her many paintings. When she retired from her position at the Guelph Public Library, she vacationed every winter at Lake Chapala in Mexico. She loved the pace of life, the music and art. For many years, she was a volunteer at Action Read. As well, she was a lifetime member of Guelph NDP, the Writer’s Club at the Evergreen Centre and the Guelph Tai Chi Society. Mom had lasting friendships and we’d especially like to thank her dear friend, Peggy Hume, with whom she had a lovely visit just last week. Mom loved written words and some of them come to mind as we think of her – dignified, graceful, creative and gentle. She shared her wisdom, kindness and laughter freely and made each of us feel special. In keeping with her wishes, there will be neither a visitation nor a service. Cremation has taken place. Private interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. We will, forever, celebrate Mom’s life at our family gatherings. She will be missed so very much. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. If desired, charitable donations can be directed to Action Read (cards available at the funeral home, 519-822-4731 or send condolences to www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com).
