TAYLOR, Brenden Edward Shelton

April 1, 1989 - June 26, 2023

For 4 years, Brenden was the beloved husband of Carly Taylor (Wing). He was the son of Ted Taylor and Irene Shelton (deceased), brother of Silvia, Rena, Adria, her partner James, and their daughter Josie. Loving son of his second family the Wings, Clive, Linda, Tyler, his partner Monica, Amanda, and her partner Matt. He will be cherished and live on in the heart of his unborn child. The life of a person is often measured by their values and contributions to the world. Brenden was born to a loving family. When he was a child, his belly laugh could be heard as he played with his sisters and bear-hugged his parents. Yet, even at a young age it was evident that he had a strong passion for trucks, tractors and anything with an engine. By the age of nine, he was fixing small engines and by the time he got his driver’s licence, he was rebuilding them. George Shelton, his grandfather encouraged him to follow his passion, which led Brenden to obtain both his truck and coach licence and automotive licence. His career began at Waverdale Fleet Service, and in 2018 he began working at the County of Wellington in the Roads Department. He was known as the man of many nicknames, for his pranks, jokes, and his charismatic laugh. He strived to be the best person he could, to brighten everyone’s day, and leave the world a better place than he found it. He was the first person to greet someone with a smile or friendly hello, lend a listening ear, and help someone in need. He was very passionate about his work and eager to teach others about mechanics. If he got a call at 2am in minus 30 degrees Celsius weather that a truck was down, he would jump out of bed, and head to work with a huge smile on his face. He lived and breathed engines. His passion for fixing diesel trucks, and a mutual friend led him to his greatest love, his wife Carly Taylor in 2015. They bought their first house in Fergus and married in 2019. He was to become a father in November of 2023 and was so excited about it! He worked hard, but he loved harder. The simple pleasures in life brought so much joy to Brenden. He and Carly did everything together from renovating their house to helping loved ones; they were inseparable. When Brenden was not working on engines, he could be found at the family hunt camp enjoying the open water, blazing trails through the bush, 4 wheeling, swimming, and fishing with friends. He loved going for walks in the bush or on the tree farm with his wife and their 2 dogs, tinkering in the shop on his latest project, and jamming out to 80’s rock music. He saw the good in each day and shared it with others. Those closest to him were shocked and heartbroken that on June 26, 2023, at the age of 34, Brenden died by suicide. If you or a loved one are having thoughts of suicide, support is available through Here4Hope 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-844-437- 3247 (HERE247). Know that you are not alone. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 15th from 1pm – 4pm at the Fergus Arena with the service beginning at 3pm. To honour Brenden’s life and in lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Go fund me for Carly and Baby, or to the charity of your choice. There are no words to describe how grateful Carly and Brenden’s family are for the ongoing love and support.
