Seip, Irene J. – Funeral services were held last Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 11am in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Fergus for the late Irene Jessie Siep. Irene passed away at Wellington Terrace in Fergus on Friday, June 5, 2009 in her 86th year. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred C. Siep (1913-2000). Dearly loved mother of Evelyn and her husband Paul Lee of Fergus and Margaret and her husband John Northcote of Arthur. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Nathan, Jeremy and Daniel Lee. Dear sister of Doris Banerjee (Shak). She will be fondly remembered by a large extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Sarah Faulkner and her sister, Vera Clark. Also predeceased by two infant children. Irene was born in London, England and was evacuated with her sisters to Cornwall during WWII. She met Wilfred Siep, who was serving in England, and came to Canada and married Wilfred in 1946. Irene was a long time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and served for many years as its secretary-treasurer and also as an elder. She was active in several church groups. She was also a member of the Fergus Legion. She was devoted to her family and used to love to have everyone at her home for family gatherings. She and Wilf enjoyed travelling and visited Europe and the Caribbean on several occasions. The Thomson Funeral Home of Fergus handled the funeral arrangements. The Reverend David Whitecross officiated the funeral service. The eulogy was given by Linda Ramage. Bill Baxter sang one of her favourite songs, “Just a Closer Walk With Thee”. Honoured to be pallbearers for Irene were Nathan Lee, Jeremy Lee, Daniel Lee, James Lee, John Majorossy and Hugh Shaw. Donations in memory of Irene to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
