SCHMIDT, Mary Isabel (Burnett) Of Arthur passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, July 17, 2017 in her 63rd year. Beloved wife of John Schmidt for 36 years. Cherished mother of Rebecca Schmidt of Etobicoke, Lisa Schmidt (Sean) of Toronto and Daniel Schmidt of Guelph. Grandmother of Henry and Ted. Daughter of John and Elizabeth Burnett of Heritage River, Elora. Sister of Alex Burnett (Linda) of Belwood/East Garafraxa and Helen Winters (Kerry) of Grand Valley. Sister-in-law of Floyd Schmidt (Julie) of Waterloo, Debbie Alexander (Dave) of Arthur and the late Garret (Gary) Schmidt (1970). Fondly remembered by her friend Bonnie Oxby, nieces, nephews and friends. Mary has owned and operated the Arthur Travel Service Limited for 30 years and was extremely active in the Arthur Chamber of Commerce and served as Chairman of the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation. To honour Mary’s wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Friday July 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, Arthur on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Arthur. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre or Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus would be appreciated by the family. Vigil prayers will be recited in the Funeral Home on Friday at 6:30 pm.
