SCHILL, Oscar Francis

December 16, 1925 - May 12, 2022

Oscar Schill of R.R.2 Alma, passed away peacefully at Palmerston and  District Hospital in his 97th year on May 12, 2022. Oscar will be dearly missed by his family and the farming community. Beloved husband of Marguerite, to whom he was married to for 70 wonderful years. Proud father to Larry (Debbie), Linda Lorentz (Albert), Pauline Brunkard (Scott), Dan (Rhonda) and Pete (Danielle). Grandfather to Shawn (Bridget), Dave (Stephanie), Michael (Miranda), Doug Lorentz (Vicki), Ron Lorentz, Jennifer Bambach (Ryan), Jocelyn (John), Kaylee, Jessica Cowan (Brad), Kurtis (Alison), Erin (Riley), Trevor Brunkard, Travis Brunkard (Nicole), Alyssa Brunkard (Jordan), Troy Brunkard (Megan), Trent Brunkard, and Timothy Brunkard. Great-grandfather of 16. Brother of Esther Sagan (the late Casey), Ralph (the late Betty) and Mary Schiebel (the late Cos), (the late Clifford Schill) and Geraldine. Predeceased by his daughter, Rosemary; his parents, Sylvester and Priscilla; and his siblings, Harold (Dorothy), Rose Weikert (Werner), Betty Biggar (Gord), Lillian Lippard, and Ruth Lorch (Willy). Oscar will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Deeply devoted to his wife Marguerite, Oscar always looked forward to visiting her daily at Royal Terrace Nursing Home. Oscar was earnestly thankful for the kindness that he and Marguerite received
from the staff at Royal Terrace. He was at peace knowing she continues to be in such great care. Oscar will be greatly remembered for 70 years spent farming in Southwestern Ontario, where he actively participated in the evolution from horse-drawn equipment to modern day precision agriculture. Oscar passionately contributed to the livestock and grains sectors over the many years. Oscar worked diligently and with pride alongside his wife, children and grandchildren during his farming career. Many memories were made on the farm. The family received relatives and friends at Heritage Funeral Home in Drayton on Sunday, May 15, 2022. A funeral mass celebrating Oscar’s life, was held at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Drayton on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 10:00am, followed by interment at the Drayton Cemetery. A light lunch and memory-sharing will follow at the church hall. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Palmerston and District Hospital or the Royal Terrace Nursing Home Resident’s Council, Palmerston.
