RYAN, Elizabeth Bridget

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Vancouver. Elizabeth was born in the bustling city of Toronto in 1944. She was the baby of the family preceded by her big brother John Jr. Her father, John Brennan was employed as a detective for the Toronto Police Force. Her mother, Agnes Brennan was employed as a lens maker for a busy optometrist. In 1949, the family relocated to a 200 acre farm in beautiful Kenilworth, Ontario. Moving to a farming community provided fertile opportunities to become acquainted with country life, good neighbors, barn raisings, church picnics, Saturday night dances, the Fall Fair and plenty of animals. The first school Elizabeth attended was SS#10 Derrynane on RR#2 Kenilworth. It was a one room schoolhouse which taught students in grades one through eight. During her first year, she was followed to school by her beloved tomcat named “Tom”. He missed her terribly and on many occasions would meow at the windows of the school. Growing up, Elizabeth excelled at horseback riding. She also enjoyed all the working dogs on the farm. She attended and graduated from Mount Forest High School. While there, she was active in school events especially as a cheerleader. She met a handsome young man named Frank Ryan. The couple later married and moved to Vancouver. Frank was employed as a professional electrician and Elizabeth spent most of her working life employed by Neptune Foods in accounting and sales. She enjoyed the West coast lifestyle which included plenty of BBQ’s and boating with friends. She always had cocker spaniels throughout her life, this was her favourite dog breed. They were her pride and joy. Elizabeth’s ebullient yet steadfast personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother, John and his wife Sandra. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 9141 Highway 6, Kenilworth, on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:00am with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
