Rutherford, Mary Iva (nee Baguley); on Monday, January 12, 2009, peacefully in her sleep at Wellington Terrace, Fergus. Mary was the loving wife of the late Wm John (Bill) Rutherford (1958). She was born on the 15th side road in Albion Township at the family farm on May 8,1915, the second daughter of Maggie Little and Wilbert Baguley. Mrs. Rutherford moved to Fergus in June of 1943 after marrying Bill on December 30, 1942. Devoted mother of Margaret (deceased 2007), John and his wife Joan, Barbara and her husband Bob Shaunessy and Mary Beth and her husband Tim Lever. Loving grandmother of seven grandchildren, Derrick (Julio), David (Joanne), Tammy Rutherford, Matthew, Adam Shaunessy, William, Bronwen Lever and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan and Amanda and Angelina. She is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-laws, Velma Rutherford and Martha Watson; her nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Muriel McPhee and Effie Glover and her brother, Donald Baguley and an infant grandson (1971). Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed her involvement with her church as a member and elder, family history, travel, horticulture and stamp collecting. She always had a twinkle in her eye and kept her wit to the end. Friends were received at the Thomson Funeral Home, 160 St. David St. N. Fergus on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service was conducted in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Fergus, on Thursday, January 15, at 2pm with a reception that followed in the church hall. Interment has taken place in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton on Friday at 10am. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Groves Memorial Hospital C. T. Scanner Fund or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Hearts for Haiti Fund.
