ROUSSY, Luke Born November 28, 1947, died peacefully at home with his family on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 after a valiant battle with many health issues. In Kitchener, his pre-school years were spent in an ethnic neighbourhood where he had to find a way to understand and communicate with friends all speaking different languages. Perhaps having to learn early in life to face barriers and overcome them helped to make him successful in later years. He met his childhood sweetheart, Linda, at age 15 and they married when he was 19. He took over his father’s manufacturing business at age 24 and managed it for the next 33 years. Every challenge was an opportunity to learn and his philosophy, “just ask, they can only say no,” was a lesson passed on to all who were fortunate to know him. That, along with, “life isn’t fair, just get on with it.” His great passion was playing snooker. Over and over he would swear off the game due to the demands of his beloved Sturdy Truck Body but time and again he would be drawn back. When he developed a tremor in his cue arm he gladly underwent brain surgery in the hopes that he would be able to continue playing. He often remarked at how privileged he felt meeting wonderful people both through his snooker and his company. But above all he loved, and loved well – his friends, his family, his sisters and brothers and most especially his two sons and his sister-in-law that was the daughter of his heart and absolutely delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He truly understood that people, not achievements and not possessions, are what are most important in life. Despite his many medical “adventures”, as he chose to call them, Luke considered his retirement years as “living the dream” when he was able to spend most of his time with Linda at their home in their country paradise in Minto. He chose to be cremated and have a private family burial. He also helped to plan his farewell party. Please join us at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Anne’s Parish Hall in the basement of the church at 268 East Avenue, Kitchener, ON. He particularly wanted his party to be held here where in his youth he attended church with his parents and siblings, where he was married and where Linda and his sons were baptized. All are welcome and his special request is that you come with happy stories for all to share and joyfully reminisce about a life lived well. For those unable to attend, please forward memories to
