of Harriston passed away at Palmerston & District Hospital on Saturday, March 2, 2019 in his 86th year. Bert Alexander Ross was the husband of Eleanore Ross for 60 years, and father of Dale Ross and his wife Tami of Minto Township, Gary Ross and his wife Wendy of Minto Township, Deanna Quintieri and her husband John of Caledon, and Brent Ross and Adele Campbell of Harriston. Remembered by his grandchildren Kevin and Lauren Ross, Amanda and Andrew Roantree, Nicole Ross, Gregory Ross, Karisa and Patrick Downey, Kody Ross, Keaton Ross and Jacinda Schieck, Kyle Quintieri, Andrew Quintieri, Ellena Ross, and Vivian Ross, and by his great-grandchildren Kane Downey and Zoe Downey. Brother of Phyllis Romphf of Barrie, and Lloyd and Shirley Ross of Kingston, and brother-in-law of Lily Ross of Harriston. Bert was predeceased by his brothers Allan Ross, Donald Ross, Gordon Ross and his wife Dorothy, and Ralph Ross and his wife Margaret, and by his brother-in-law Gilbert Romphf. Bert lived 70 years in Minto Township on the family farm. He married Eleanore Arthurs in 1958 where they raised their family while milking a herd of Holsteins. He was an avid hockey and baseball player, and curler; along with being a fan of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He enjoyed community involvement and volunteering, including 25 years as a member of Minto Council, a member of Cotswold and Harriston United Churches, and the Harriston Masonic Lodge. Bert and Eleanore retired to Harriston in 2005, enjoying lawn bowling and travelling. Above all, Bert loved his family and community, and he will be greatly missed. Friends called at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston on Tuesday, March 5 from 2:00 – 4:00pm & 7:00 – 9:00pm with a Masonic Lodge memorial service at 6:30pm. The funeral service was held at Harriston United Church on Wednesday, March 6 at 11:00am. Interment in Harriston Cemetery.
