ROOT, John Bennett. John Bennett Root, in his 83rd year, died peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2016. Bennett was the beloved husband of Diana (Churcher) for almost 60 years, loving father of John (Darlene Maurer), Kathy (James Root Parr), Adrienne (Stuart Shaw), Michael (Angela Eady); grandfather of Athena (Geoff Pearce), Valerie, Ariel, Eric, Andrew and Rachael; great-grandfather of Rayna, Lincoln and Isaac Pearce; brother of Evelyn (David), George (Ann d., Leita), Robert (Barbara), Clayton (Charlene); brother-in-law of Marilyn (Bob Pharoah); uncle of many nieces and nephews; predeceased by grand-daughter Julia Root, sister Marie and parents John and Lillie Root. His family would like to thank the Elliott Community, particularly the staff on Wellington, for the excellent end-of-life care he received. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillsburgh Baptist Church, 21 Trafalgar Rd., Hillsburgh. Visitation will be one hour before. A reception will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillsburgh Baptist Church, The Elliott Community, or The Alzheimer’s Society.
