A beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis, Florida. He was born on September 28, 1963, in Penetanguishene, Ontario, to Turner and Joan Roorda. Terry’s life was a testament to the beauty of connection, laughter, and adventure, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Terry was preceded in death by his cherished father, Turner Roorda, brother, Brad Roorda, and father and mother in-law, Pieter and Jean Flooryp. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Joanne Roorda (née Flooryp), whom he married on July 23, 1983, in Orangeville, Ontario. Together, they nurtured a loving family that includes their three children, Karen, Jason, and Peter (Janessa), who continue to carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy. Terry’s siblings, Ed (Gloria), Wayne (Grace), Rick (Louisa), Marg (Jackie), and Tim (Shelley), along with his beloved mother, Joan Roorda, and his extended family, Edna Roorda, Gonnie and John Vos, Judy and Glen DeWinter, John and Tonya Flooryp, mourn his passing and will forever cherish the memories they shared. Throughout his life, Terry epitomized the qualities of a kind, fun-loving, and outspoken individual. He had an extraordinary ability to form connections with others, regardless of where he was in the world. His outgoing nature and zest for life drew people in, creating a sense of family wherever he went. He had a passion for travel and camping, often exploring the great outdoors and kayaking in tranquil waters. Terry’s adventurous spirit led him to experience the beauty of many places, embracing each new journey with an open heart and an inquisitive mind. His warmth and generosity were felt by many, and his laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. Those who knew him will remember him for his quick wit and infectious smile, a true friend to all. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at HCA Florida JFK Hospital CV ICU and Hospice for their compassionate care during Terry’s final days. Your dedication and kindness were deeply appreciated. Visitation was held at Palmerston CRC Wednesday, Mar 19, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Terry’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:00pm at Palmerston CRC. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a man whose spirit was as vast as the skies he admired and whose love was as deep as the waters he navigated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Terry’s memory, allowing his legacy of kindness and adventure to continue impacting the lives of others. Terry Roorda will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his adventures will inspire others to seek joy and connection in their own lives.
