ROGER, Peggy

Peggy ‘Margaret’ Isobel (Marnoch) Roger, formerly of Harriston passed away at Strathcona Long Term Care, Mount Forest, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in her 96th year. Peggy was a strong woman who embodied independence and continued to grow throughout her life. She raised five children while working outside the home. From spinning yarn at Pioneer Village to the warehouse at Eaton’s, she was a committed worker. An active member of the community, Peggy was a loyal and long-time member of the Women’s Institute and her church. Whether she was knitting shawls for the sick or working with the Syrian Refugee Committee, Peggy consistently gave her all. She deeply loved her family and was a fierce advocate when needed. She was the rallying cry behind the aspiring actors, artists, and activists that made up her grandchildren. Peggy is predeceased by her husband, Fred, who passed away in July. She will be dearly missed by her children: Daniel (Marites), Terry (Karina), Martin (Edeltraud) and Shawn Riordan, Kathy (Paul) Farley and Leslie Roger; her grandchildren: Kevin, Keith, Matthew, Patrick, Michael, Alexa, Erin, Adam, Jennifer, Corey, Anastasia, Princess; and her great-grandchildren: Bryn, Maddie, Petra, Leif, Maelle, and Freya. A Celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, her birthday, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior and reception to follow. Interment in Prospect Cemetery, Toronto. Memorial donations to Knox-Calvin Presbyterian Church or Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated.
