ROCK, Norval (Rocky) Victor; March 5, 1935 to October 2, 2014. With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of Rocky (formally of Windsor ON) after a brave struggle with cancer on October 2, 2014 at the age of 79. Loving and devoted husband to Beverly (nee Dafoe) for 59 years and 11 months. Devoted father to Rosemary Rock-Vincent (nee Rock) and Tom Vincent, Sharon (nee Rock) and Tom McLean and Karen (nee Rock) and Rick VanParys. Predeceased (February 5, 2014) by his son Tim Rock also survived by daughter-in-law Lee Rock (nee Richardson). Cherished grandfather to Craig Vincent and Barb Richens, Amy and Chris Couto, Jeff Warring, Stephen Warring and Deanna MacDougall, Tommy McLean, Sarah Mclean, Michael Gabrsolek, Justin VanParys and Alanna Reid, Joshua VanParys, Kelly Van Parys. Great grandfather (a.k.a.) Pipi to Jared Vincent and Caleb Couto. Predeceased by brothers Louis, Sherry, Lawrence, Leonard, and sisters Lorette, Corine, Lorina, Victoria and Sister-in-law Karen Schives. Devoted uncle to 45 nieces and nephews. Well known for his devotion to his family, with a deep appreciation for all his many friends, his love of life and his ability to bring laughter to any situation. He started his pride-filled working career in Windsor at Canada Bread at the age of 14, Purity Dairies, Happy Home Beverages, Woolco, Keith Generating Plant, Wilco Tubing, Gabriel Shocks, Reddi Rack and Enrack (Hamilton). During his retirement years, he found his true calling in restoring bicycles, lawn mowers, and snow blowers.  He sold his last snowblower on October 2, 2014. A tremendous thank you to Dr. Mark Easterbrook and Dr. Chris Lund and all the doctors and nurses’ support at the Grand River Cancer Clinic, Groves Hospital and Dr. Easterbrook’s office staff. Each of their efforts ensured that Rocky maintained a positive and strong attitude during his battle with cancer. In addition, the spiritual guidance, healing masses and prayers under the leadership of Father Ken gave Rocky the strong sense of community that he valued and respected. Visitation was held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. S. Fergus, Ont. on Sunday, October 5, 2014 2-4 p.m. (1:45 Prayer Service) and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 760 St. David St. N. in Fergus, on Monday October 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Reception followed immediately at the church hall. Interment followed reception at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elora, Ont.  Memorial donations can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
