It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Lou, who passed away March 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his best friend and wife of fifty years, Carol. As a proud and loving Dad, Lou leaves behind his son Matthew and daughter in law Ruth. The legacy of Lou’s kind spirit, honesty and integrity lives on through Matthew. Lou’s grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. Papa will always be in the hearts of Kenzie, Cole and Lexi. Lou was predeceased by his brother, Bill, from Saskatchewan. Lou was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, where he met his wife Carol. They moved to Belwood, where they spent 40 years before moving to Fergus. During those years they were blessed with their son Matthew. After moving to Belwood, Lou worked for G.S.W. He was Union President for many of those years before retiring in 2006. Lou loved his sports. He was a diehard fan of the Hamilton Tiger Cats and a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan. He took a lot of kidding from friends who supported the blue teams, but always in good fun. Above all, Lou’s family was most important to him in life. We will keep him in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 12, 2022 from 2 – 4pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South, Fergus. A private family service will be held. Donations in memory of Lou may be made to the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation, and are greatly appreciated by his family.
